ListSearch

ListSearch archives email-based discussion lists about several popular software products including Lasso Professional, Lasso Studio, FileMaker, BBEdit, TextWrangler, Yojimbo, Mailsmith, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, GoLive, and Dreamweaver.

Each mailing list includes the following pages:

• About - Includes information about the list and subscribe/unsubscribe forms.
• Browse - Shows the most recent messages for the discussion list. Allows you to search recent messages by topic or date.
• Message - Shows an individual message from the list. The buttons in the header allow navigation between messages.
• Thread - Shows an entire thread from the list. The buttons in the header allow navigation between messages.

Redesign

ListSearch has been redesigned and simplified, but is not yet complete. In the coming weeks the option to see messages sorted by thread will return as well as an option to browse messages by author. In addition, we are exploring a method which would allow readers to join in the discussion without subscribing to the mailing lists.

Technical

ListSearch is a free service from LassoSoft, LLC. The site is programmed in Lasso Professional 8.5 using a MySQL back-end. Messages are retrieved from a POP server every 15 minutes using the email checking capabilities of Lasso.

History

LassoSoft acquired the ListSearch service and the "Blue World" mailing lists from OmniPilot Software in 2006 along with the Lasso and Lasso Studio product lines. The "Blue World" mailing lists were moved to the LassoSoft domain name in 2007.

ListSearch was originally launched in 2002 by Blue World as the new home for the "Blue World" mailing lists. The archives for these lists had been made available on the Web through the Blue World Web site since 1996, but ListSearch gave them a new unified home and also allowed third-party lists to be archived. OmniPilot Software acquired the assets of Blue World in 2004 and significantly redesigned the ListSearch service.
